At the age of 14, I created my first website. At that time, I had no idea that one day this would become my profession and that I would work as a freelance web developer. So, you could say that I have turned my hobby into my work. After completing a course in web development at the Media College Amsterdam, I worked for 12 years at the largest online toy store in the Netherlands, Lobbes - who I still do freelance work for, to this day.
In 2019, I started working as a freelancer under the name Webartisan. Tech-savvy people may recognize my company name as a reference to the Laravel framework, which is my preferred programming language. As a freelancer, I "rent myself out" to companies to perform various programming tasks. With knowledge of both front-end and back-end development, I am versatile and can help companies as a true digital all-rounder.
One of my favorite clients is Managed Grid (but don't tell the other clients 🤫). This is mainly because the work is never run-of-the-mill. Ron and Tim are true inventors and we often try to come up with unique concepts together. For example, with the help of Pim and Michel, we developed a web page where millions of data points from wind/solar farms can be displayed on a graph on your screen, in less than 3 seconds. Then a direct connection is made to the database of the wind/solar farm and the data in the graph updates in real-time.
Projects are never boring. Currently, I am working on automated tasks to check whether the data stored in our databases is complete and meets expectations. If it deviates even slightly, the right people are automatically notified.
