Hi! My name is Werner van der Veen, and I am a Machine Learning Engineer at Managed Grid (as a technical consultant via Vantage AI). Together, with my colleague Oeljana, we are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining professional AI systems that predict congestion on the Dutch power grid. I grew up and studied in Groningen, but now live in Utrecht. I love combining my passion for data and AI with a socially responsible and important topics, namely the (green) energy transition, as well as conducting research and development into sustainable solutions for our future energy supply. My professional background also reflects my motivation to use AI to make the world a better place; for example, I have work experience in healthcare (automation of image diagnostics) and in developing and deploying recycling robots. Other hobbies of mine include sport climbing, reading, and enjoying the outdoors.
